Not only is a banana protein shake yummy, it is also packed with nutrition, replenishing carbs, vitamins and minerals. You can use it for breakfast, post-workout or anytime you need to refuel.

Ingredients needed:

One of our favourite, delicious and nutritious banana protein shake

How to make the shake

It is very hard…! LOL, Just joking.

Just put all the ingredients above into your blender. We use a Nutribullet blender as it’s easy to make consistently, easy to clean and simply drink out of the cup as it’s shaped like a shake bottle with its lid accessory.

Blend 10-15 seconds should be more than enough.

Drink straight away, or store it in a sealed bottle to take for a post-workout shake.

You can also add some ice cubes if you like.

Ingredients value and uses

Banana Nutritional Value

So banana itself has 1.3grams of protein (also depends on the size of “your banana” 😁. However, it has many other vitamins and minerals, including, potassium, magnesium, Vit-C and tons of Vit-B6. See the list below.

  • Potassium: 9% of the RDI
  • Vitamin B6: 33% of the RDI
  • Vitamin C: 11% of the RDI
  • Magnesium: 8% of the RDI
  • Copper: 10% of the RDI
  • Manganese: 14% of the RDI
  • Net carbs: 24 grams
  • Fibre: 3.1 grams
  • Protein: 1.3 grams
  • Fat: 0.4 grams

 A medium-sized banana has about 105 calories.

Whey Protein:

The easiest way to add a balanced taste to the banana protein shake is my opinion to use cinnamon whey protein. But if you’re not a fan of cinnamon, then you can use alternatives something like peanut butter whey protein.

The goal is to have a complimentary protein powder that does not overpower or mask the banananess.

Alternatively, you can use the unflavoured whey protein powder and add natural cinnamon.

Milk and Yogourt

Milk and yoghourt are excellent sources of nutrition and calcium. But here we using each for different purposes.

Milk is used to give a creamy taste and mix all the powder and ingredients together.

Yogourt is used to balance the taste and add a thicker consistency to the drink. Use less yoghourt if you prefer a more runny consistency.

On your cheat days, you can replace yogourt with Vinnila Ice-cream. But PLEASE, that’s a treat and not for every day.
